Minnesota Farmers Union members are at the state capital in St. Paul today holding their lobby day. Vice President of Government Affairs Thom Petersen says early this session they’re focusing on health care, taxes and boosting the Rural Finance Authority to help producers struggling with a down ag economy.
He says they’re monitoring tax issues and trying to see how the federal tax law change impacts farmers and ranchers.
Petersen says they’re backing legislation that would boost the State’s Rural Finance Authority to help producers during disasters.
Petersen says so far this session, lawmakers seem to be working together rather than battling each other on a number of issues.
