Minnesota Farmers Union President Doug Peterson along with National Farmers Union’s Vice President of programs, Chandler Goule met with their group’s members last week across the state. Goule says many of the questions they heard from farmers and ranchers had to do with implementation of the new farm bill. He says producers will need to choose either the Price Loss Coverage or Ag Risk coverage program to sign up for.
Goule advises producers to make sure they understand which program they’re signing up for as once that is completed producers are locked in for the life of the farm bill.
Goule says producers need to have patience with Farm Service Agency workers as they’re working with an 11 hundred page document and trying to make it understandable for those using it.
