National Farmers Union members are holding their 115th convention in San Diego this week through Wednesday. Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen says the top concern for his state’s delegation is the current state of the depressed farm economy and trying to find solutions to keep producers’ heads above water.
He says their members will be talking about what’s needed in the new farm bill. Hansen says the present farm program wasn’t designed to deal with the price decline being seen currently in agriculture.
Hansen says his state’s members are also concerned about renewable fuels.
He says they’ll be talking about trade and trying to find out more specifics about changes promised by the Trump administration going from focusing on multilateral agreements to bilateral deals.
