Farmers Union members across the country are backing the farm bill the Senate Ag Committee has sent to the floor. Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen says Senators have come up with a positive measure that’s much better than what the House passed by two votes on Thursday.
He says they want more money put into the Senate measure to help farmers suffering from low commodity prices.
Hansen adds that their National Farmers Union Board wants Senators to add a permanent provision that pays farmers when they suffer retaliatory tariffs.
Hansen say the farm bill the House came up with falls far short of what farmers and ranchers need.
