As the weather warms up this spring, farmer should check their stored grain this spring to make sure it doesn’t develop hot spots and spoil. SDSU Extension Agronomy Field Specialist Sara Bauder says much of the grain was put in storage last fall wetter than recommended.
She says it’s important to check not just one, but various spots in the bin to make sure hot spots don’t develop.
Bauder says there are steps growers can take to dry stored grain with a higher moisture content.
Bauder says for additional grain storage tips, farmers can go to the SDSU extension website at extension.sdstate.edu.
