A South Dakota State University soil fertility specialist is recommending farmers conduct a thorough soil test before applying fertilizer this spring. Jason Clark says it could be that crop fields may not need as much fertilizer as with past years.
Clark says due to the sky rocketing cost of commercial fertilizer, some farmers are looking at other options for their crop fertilizer needs. He says it still starts with a soil test.
