Farmers have some options to consider with farm bill enrollment approaching. Yankton, South Dakota crop insurance agent Dave Hubbs advises producers talk to their crop insurance agents about updating yields and which program to sign up for between PLC, ARC County and ARC Individual. Producers can enroll at their local Farm Service Agency office.

He recommends producers choose ARC Individual if they have a large amount of prevented plant acres in their operation.

South Dakota Corn Growers Executive Director Lisa Richardson says there are tools on the FSA website to help producers make their farm bill decisions. She reiterates that after 2020 farmers will be able to re-enroll.

The farm bill signup deadline is March 15, 2020.
