Farmers are getting very frustrated with the Trump administration and the ongoing Trade War. Iowa Soybean Association President Bill Shipley says the President is going to have to bring some resolution to the trade battle.
Recently Trump promised more tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese goods and Friday the Chinese said they’ll retaliate against $60 billion in U.S. exports. Shipley says eventually the Chinese will have to purchase U.S. soybeans because they won’t be able to get enough from South America.
Shipley who recently led a trade mission to the European Union says their producers and processors are also having trouble trading with China. He says what’s concerning is that President Trump is also fighting with the E.U.
Shipley says while Trump supposedly worked out a trade deal with the E.U. for U.S. soybeans, they still have restrictions on biotech soybeans and there’s been no details released yet on the agreement.
