Food security is a local and global issue and farmers are getting involved in solving this problem. A non-profit organization called Farmers Feeding the World is developing farm teams across the nation to deal with the issue of hunger…starting in Minnesota and South Dakota. South Dakota Team Lead and Gregory farmer Lee Lubbers says he’ll be assembling his farm team in the next three months.
He says this team will work with the state’s Congressional delegation on farm policy that will support the goal of eliminating hunger.
Lubbers says a side goal is for team members to develop a long term relationship with lawmakers so they can act as a sounding board on federal farm policy issues.
