Farmers and agribusiness representatives prepared and served the evening meal last night at the Banquet in Sioux Falls as part of Ag United’s Farmers Serving Families. Bob Woerman serves on the Minnehaha County Conservation Board, but says he also feels it’s important those in agriculture serve the community and at the same time put a face on agriculture.

Central Farmers Cooperative had six employees that helped prepare the meal, including Megan Herlyn who is a grain merchandiser. She says it’s hard for anyone in agriculture and food production to see others go hungry.

She says the employees of Central Farmers were taking part in a new company program that encourages community service.

Approximately 50 volunteers representing farm groups and agribusinesses helped with Farmers Serving Families and fed nearly 350 people at the Banquet.
