Farmers shared their positive message about agriculture with consumers and opinion leaders at a Farm to Fork event at the Bones farm near Parker, South Dakota last night. The evening featured a tour of their dairy and a meal featuring South Dakota produced products. Co-owner Walt Bones says it’s also a chance for farmers to have a conversation with consumers about their industry in a non-threatening setting.

The Farm to Fork event is part of Hungry for Truth consumer initiative launched by the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council and Chair Marc Reiner says consumers just want to know where their food comes from.

Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether says the event is critical in building awareness among consumers and decision makers about the importance of agriculture to South Dakota and the city he represents.

Staci Perry is a food blogger from Brookings and says the night helped open her eyes to how farmers produce food and why they use certain production techniques on their farms.

More than 170 people attended the Farm to Fork event.
