The first of several agriculture stress webinars was held Tuesday in Nebraska. University of Nebraska Extension Rural, Health, Wellness and Safety Educator Susan Harris presented at the event co-sponsored by the State Cattlemen Association. She says its important producers under stress shift their outlook away from their problems to focus on their successes.

She says there are specific symptoms to look for in farmers or ranchers experiencing stress or depression.

Harris says one of the best ways to help those with chronic stress is to be an active listener.

Harris and other extension specialists will be conducting a series of webinars to help the increasing number of rural Nebraskans dealing with stress.

Harris works out of the West Central Research and Extension Center and says future webinars will be geared toward sleep deprivation.
