Iowa Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst met with Trump administration officials this week to work on a biofuels deal. They want a solution to the small refinery exemptions that have caused the loss of 4 billion gallons of ethanol from the Renewable Fuel Standard. Grassley says they’re trying to find a solution that’s acceptable for ethanol interests.

He says they told the administration that if 15 billion gallons of ethanol are mandated to be blended into the nation’s gasoline supply, that needs to be done.

Grassley says while there appears to be an oral biofuels agreement, it needs to be put in writing.

Oil industry representatives and lawmakers from oil states will also be meeting with the President to talk about the small refiner waiver issue.
