Farmers and ranchers can apply to enroll grasslands in the Conservation Reserve Program Grasslands sign up starting Monday March 16 and running through May 15. Nebraska Farm Service Agency’s Bobbie Kriz Wickham says the program is similar to general CRP but is also a working lands program.

She says the 2018 Farm Bill set aside 2 million acres for CRP grassland enrollment but not all of that is offered in this signup period. Wickham says it’s important those enrolling call for an appointment at their local FSA county office and have in mind what they want to achieve with their practices to be involved in this ranking.

Wickham says the CRP grassland are long term contracts that provide a valuable rental payment along with cost share on their practices.

Wickham says those intending to enroll can also find out more information where to sign up by going online at the FSA website at farmer.gov/service-locator.
