Last week a group of Nebraska Farm Bureau leaders were in the nation’s capital making Hill visits. President Steve Nelson says the key issues they shared with federal lawmakers included international trade, economic stress faced by farmers and ranchers, and the need for rural broadband access. He says there’s been good progress in getting trade deals, now they’re awaiting results.

He says they also talked about the need for more and better access for rural broadband.

Nelson says he also met with Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue and talked to him about the economic stress farmers and ranchers have been under lately.

Nelson says they also spoke with members of Congress about the need for estate tax reform.
