New Senate Finance Chairman Ron Wyden of Oregon wants to address how the global marketplace has changed since the last trade promotion authority bill was passed. Meanwhile opposition in Wyden’s party to TPA has surfaced from Congressional leaders Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott Vanderwal says it doesn’t make sense to oppose TPA.
It’s thought that both Senate Leader Reid and House ranking member Pelosi are may be feeling election year jitters and pressure from Unions not on board with TPA. Vanderwal says that’s not surprising.
Vanderwal says his group will work with Finance Chairman Wyden and try and impress upon him the importance of TPA and trade in general.
