Farm Leader Sees Positives And Negatives From Election Results

Tuesdays election results show Nebraska picking up a new Congressman in Democrat Brad Ashford replacing incumbent Republican Lee Terry and Republican Ben Sasse taking the retiring Mike Johanns Senate position. What effect will that have on agriculture. Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen says his group has worked with Ashford who served in the Unicameral for 16 years and is looking forward to working with him in his new job.
Hansen says his group has some concerns with Senator Elect Ben Sasse but are hoping they can work with him and find at least some middle ground on ag issues.
Hansen says Nebraska is the 4th largest state for ag production, is number two for ethanol production and has the third highest potential or wind energy. He says because of that, it’s critical Sasse work with his group on advocating for those.
