Election results earlier this month mean the GOP controls both houses of the Iowa Legislature. Iowa Farmers Union President Jana Linderman says that may create some challenges for their group and its policies.
She says one of their key priorities they hope to work with state lawmakers on is improving the state’s water quality. Linderman says bi partisan support they received from legislators on that issue last session was positive and should be helpful going forward.
Linderman says her group can work with either party on important agricultural issues. She says more can be accomplished working with both political parties.
Linderman says besides gearing up to work with state lawmakers on ag issues, her group is getting ready for their state convention in the next couple of weeks and will be talking about the need to get going on a new farm bill at the national level.
