A recent case of B.S.E. in Canada affirms the value of the U.S. Country of Origin Labeling law. That’s according to South Dakota Farmers Union President Doug Sombke who says COOL is needed to protect America’s meat supply.
Sombke says Congress needs to continue defending COOL against recent attacks from groups who want to dismantle it and this BSE case should give them good ammunition to do that.
Sombke says it is hard not to support a law that gives consumers basic information on where their food comes from especially in light of the confirmation of a disease with fatal implications in Canada.
