At this week’s Asia Pacific Conference in Beijing, China the United States and China reached a groundbreaking agreement to curb global warming. The two top polluters in the world signed a deal to reduce greenhouse emissions by 2030. South Dakota Farmers Union President Doug Sombke says it’s a step in the right direction and sees it as a very positive move.
Following the announcement, California Senator Barbara Boxer called for congressional action on climate change. Sombke says while he’s pleased the Senator is trying to move forward with climate change mitigation it remains to be seen what will actually get accomplished.
Despite the agreement, nothing specific was spelled out as to how both China and the U.S. will reach their goals by 2030.
