South Dakota Farmers Union President Doug Sombke says he’s pleased State legislators are planning on holding hearings related to the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and EB 5 immigrant investor program.  Questions arose earlier regarding EB 5 investment money that was used for the failed Northern Beef Packing plant. Sombke says it’s important state legislator look into the matter.

Sombke says while it’s important to spur economic development it needs to be done properly and with close scrutinization by state lawmakers.

The Joint South Dakota Government Operations and Audit Committee will be conducting the hearings.
