Ministerial Conference over the weekend with an agreement that will set a new direction for agricultural trade negotiations. The deal between the participating WTO countries will eliminate trade distorting export subsidies and achieve disciplines of the use of export credits. South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott Vanderwal says the agreement is good for U.S. agriculture.
He says most countries are seeing the need for free trade.
Vanderwal says it’s difficult to put together good trade agreements and this latest WTO deal will help in the long run.
The WTO agreement will lower agricultural trade barriers and strengthen U.S. agriculture’s ability to pursue market opportunities in international trade.
