Tuesday, the Senate Finance Committee held a confirmation hearing for President’s Trump nominee for U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer. Nebraska Farm Bureau Director of National Affairs Jordan Dux says his group is hoping for quick confirmation of Lighthizer.

Dux is pleased Lighthizer told the Senate Finance Committee he, like the President, believes in an American first trade policy. He says that’s critical for agriculture.

He says Lighthizer’s track record of negotiating agreements with tough trade enforcement is a positive.

Dux says they’re also encouraged that Lighthizer wants to work closely with the President and the Commerce Department in advancing bilateral trade agreements.
