Minnesota state lawmakers have this week to come up with a budget they can agree with the Governor on and not getting the budget in place has implications for agriculture. Minnesota Farm Bureau Associate Public Policy Director Cole Rupprecht says the budget package includes the ag finance bill and as part of that the Governor is concerned about how certain pesticide use effects pollinators.
He says his group is concerned with language that would require applicators to meet strict verification requirements.
However, Rupprecht say the ag finance bill also contains tax relief for farmers and ranchers.
The Minnesota legislature is scheduled to adjourn May 22.
