Minnesota Farmers Union and Farm Bureau leaders are asking Congress to co sponsor legislation to get the Gray Wolf delisted from the Endangered Species Act. They also want management of the wolf to be turned back to state control. Minnesota Farmers Union’s Director of Government Relations Thom Petersen says without the De Listing, farmers have no protection against the predator.
Petersen says they’re also working to get additional federal and state help to deal with the wolf predator issue.
Petersen says the current population of gray wolves in Minnesota is more than 2400 which far exceeds state and federal recovery goals.
