Farm Groups Unhappy With President’s Proposed Ag Budget

Several farm groups including the National Farmers Union is disappointed with the President’s 2018 federal budget proposal that calls for deep cuts to agriculture. NFU Senior Vice President of Public Policy Rob Larew says if Congress approves the President’s plan, there won’t be a new farm bill.

He says with the farm economy currently facing a crisis, the President’s plan calling for cutting farmers major safety net program, crop insurance makes no sense.

Larew says if President Trump wants to build the economy, the cuts he’s proposing won’t help.

Besides NFU, House Agriculture Committee chairman Mike Conaway and the American Farm Bureau as well as Nebraska and Minnesota Farm Bureau groups and American Soybean Association all express deep concerns with the President’s proposed cuts to agriculture.
