Gregg Doud has been nominated by President Trump to be Chief Ag Negotiator at the U.S. Trade Representative’s Office. Doud has been President of the Commodities Markets Council since 2013. Farm groups have applauded the nomination. Global Farmer Network CEO Mary Boote says Doud is a good choice for the position and has a lot of experience that makes him highly qualified for the job.
She says the USTR Chief Ag Negotiator must understand agriculture and Doud also fits that requirement.
Doud is now awaiting Senate confirmation and Boote is hoping that is a quick process.
Doud spent eight years as Chief Economist of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and was also a senior professional staff member of the Senate Agriculture Committee for Senators Pat Roberts and Thad Cochran. He also worked for U.S. Wheat Associates.
