Farm groups say it’s time to move forward on USMCA. That’s after the U.S. lifted the Section 232 steel and aluminum tariffs on Mexico and Canada and those countries rescinded their retaliatory tariffs. Iowa Farm Bureau President Craig Hill says other countries we’re talking trade with need to see the U.S. ratify that pact.

Some Democrats want labor reform changes made to the agreement and others want changes made to the body of the deal. Hill says those who oppose ratification of the USMCA only have the option of voting for or against it.

He says the USMCA as it was negotiated has many benefits for agriculture.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says if USMCA can get through the House, it won’t have a problem getting through the Senate and to the President’s desk for his signature.
