In a joint statement, the U.S. Grains Council and the National Corn Growers Association have pledged support for the Trans Pacific Partnership agreement. However, Grains Council Chairman and Nebraska grower Alan Tiemann says getting Congress to approve the deal may be a heavy lift.
He says the other countries involved in the TPP are excited about getting this deal approved by their governments so trade can move forward.
Tiemann says once it gets final approval, TPP will be a huge benefit to all areas of U.S. agriculture.
The Asia Pacific region included in the agreement represents 40 percent of the world’s economy and is one of the fastest growing areas of the world.
