Minnesota Land Stewardship Project members are pleased that Senate and House Ag leaders have reached a deal in principle on the 2018 farm bill. LSP Federal Policy Program Organizer Ben Anderson says they have been asking Congress to get the new farm legislation passed this year.
He says his group’s main farm bill priorities include making sure both conservation and beginning farmer programs are adequately funded.
Anderson says the conferees have their work cut out for them to get the farm bill approved this year, as time is running out in the lame duck session.
Anderson says it’s imperative Congress gets the farm bill completed this year or they have to start over.
