President Obama is traveling to Cuba next month. It’s the first time a sitting U.S. President has visited Cuba in 88 years. The trip comes 15 months after Cuba and the U.S. announced plans to restore ties. American Soybean Association Board member and Valley Springs, South Dakota grower Kevin Scott is hoping the President’s trip will further open farm markets in Cuba and lead to Congress lifting the embargo.

He says of Congress lifted the embargo that would allow for normalized trade between the U.S. and the island nation.

Scott says exports are critical for America’s soybean growers and every market opening is beneficial.

Earlier this month, the Obama administration approved the first American owned factory to be built in Cuba since 1959.
