Senate and House Ag Committee leaders along with Farm Group Representatives are expressing concern about the delay in the confirmation of Sonny Perdue as Secretary of Agriculture. Nebraska Farm Bureau National Affairs Coordinator Jordan Dux says they’re hoping everything can be expedited to speed up that confirmation process.

He says that head of the USDA needs to be in place in order to move ahead the next farm bill and to be at the table representing ag in trade discussions.

Dux says it’s also important to have Sonny Perdue in place as Ag Secretary to be agriculture’s voice in cabinet meetings and other events.

Besides Perdue’s confirmation, the Senate has yet to confirm the next U.S. Trade Representative. That hearing is set for March 14.
