The American Farm Bureau Federation along with the National Pork Producers Council are appealing a U.S. district court ruling that allowed producer’s personal information to be released by EPA. The Court has issued a temporary order that that information may not be released during the appeals process. Minnesota Farm Bureau President Kevin Paap thinks they have a good case going forward with the appeal which is based on common sense.
Paap says farmers and ranchers privacy should be protected as vigorously as it is for any other American Citizen and the courts need to recognize that.
The U.S. District Court for the district of Minnesota ruled at the end of last month the agricultural groups didn’t have standing in the case because the information released did not hurt the plaintiffs.
