President Donald Trump is meeting for the second day with China’s President in Florida. Trade is one of the major topics expected to come up and Nebraska Farm Bureau National Affairs Coordinator Jordan Dux says they’re hoping Trump will encourage the Chinese leader to open his country’s market to United States beef.
He says that market opening is important given the fact that China’s beef import market is worth more than $2.5 billion and they are the second largest importer of beef in the world.
Dux says having the Chinese market reopened is critical given the current depressed state of the U.S. agricultural economy.
Besides the Nebraska Farm Bureau, 39 U.S. Senators also wrote to President Trump asking him to raise the issue of U.S. beef access to China.
