Minnesota Farmers Union leaders are supporting measures calling for a tax credit for property tax relief for farmers as well as loosening regulations on ditch mowing. They’re also backing a bill that calls for a study to change the way valuations are made. Government Relations Director Thom Petersen says Wednesday he testified in committee for the tax credit measure.
He also says their backing a measure to curtail the powers of MNDOT on ditch mowing regulations.
Petersen says they also back a measure by Representative Ben Lien that calls for a study committee to look at the way of changing how valuations are figured basing it on a farm and ranch land’s ability to produce income.
Petersen says Lien’s study measure is similar to previous legislation heard in South Dakota and Nebraska.
