Wright County Minnesota dairy and grain farmer Dan Glessing who serves as the Vice President of the Minnesota Farm Bureau has announced his candidacy for the group’s Presidency. If elected in November he would replace Kevin Paap who chose not to see re-election after serving 16 years at the head of the group. Glessing says his experience as Vice President of the Farm Bureau along with his 8 years on the board qualifies him for the President’s job.

He says two of the main issues for Minnesota’s Farm Bureau members at the National Level is being able to retain stepped up basis in tax policy and seeing Congress pass an infrastructure package.
T
Glessing says the major concern at the state level is the ongoing drought which has been tough on many Minnesota producers this year.

Glessing says he’s hoping the Governor will call the State Legislature into special session to pass that drought relief measure. Glessing and his wife who’s an Ag Teacher and FFA advisor have four children ages 7 to 15
