North Dakota voters go to the polls next week to decide on a ballot measure of whether or not to allow corporate ownership of swine and dairy operations. North Dakota Farmers Union is urging a no vote on Measure 1. Farmers Union’s Member Advocacy Director Kayla Pulvermacher says the state hasn’t allowed corporate ag ownership for 80 years and her group wants that to stay in place.

She says if voters uphold the bill passed by the North Dakota legislature allowing corporate ownership of dairy and swine it will hurt most smaller and medium sized farm operators.

Pulvermacher says if the measure passes, her group will keep fighting for protections for the state’s farmers and ranchers.

Pulvermacher says she is confident voters will side with her group and vote No on Measure one.
