This week, the Supreme Court halted enforcement of President Obama’s sweeping plan to address climate change until after legal challenges are resolved. The High Court temporarily froze the clean power plan and Nebraska Farm Bureau’s National Affair’s Coordinator Jordan Dux is pleased with the decision because he says the plan if implemented would be costly to Nebraska.
He says the President’s plan if allowed to be implemented would hurt Nebraska’s farmers and ranchers.
Compliance with the new rule isn’t required until 2022 however the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality has already scheduled hearings on it to take public input. Dux says it’s still important for farmers and ranchers to weigh in on that.
Under the President’s Clean Power plan, states must submit their plans to the EPA by September or seek an extension.
