Farm Group Official Says USMCA Needs To Get Ratified

Canada’s Prime Minister and Mexico’s President are set to sign the USMCA trade deal at the upcoming G20 Summit. Most U.S. agricultural groups are hoping the U.S. follows suit and gets the Congress to ratify the remake of the North American Free Trade Agreement. Nebraska Farm Bureau’s Director of National Affairs Jordan Dux says while he doesn’t see the Lame Duck Congress moving on the ratification is hopeful the new Congress gets it done.

He says for the USMCA to work fully for agriculture the tariff war has to end.

Dux says there are several provisions in the USMCA that are beneficial for agriculture in all three countries.

Besides the Mexican and Canadian leaders expected to sign the USMCA at the G20, President Trump is slated to meet with China’s President and hopefully at least lay out a road map for resolution to the trade war.
