Today is the final day of the 2020 South Dakota Legislative session with the majority of lawmakers meeting on-line due to the coronavirus pandemic. South Dakota Farmers Union Lobbyist Mitch Richter says a large part of their discussion will be dealing with the COVID 19 outbreak and the response.

He says there isn’t any specific aid being talked about to help agriculture but there will be discussion over the depressed state of the overall economy.

The final day of the legislative session is usually held to deal with any vetoes being put out by the Governor. Richter says however there aren’t any negative ones impacting agriculture.

Richter says he will be monitoring what lawmakers do with the state budget and will weigh in with them on anything from that that impacts agriculture.
