Farm Group Leaders Have Different Reaction To Trade Deal With China

Reports out Thursday afternoon indicate that the United States and China have reached a phase one trade deal in principle. South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott VanderWal says depending on future details, that appears on the surface to be positive.

National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson has a different take, he’s skeptical about the supposed trade break through.

VanderWal says the President wants to get an agreement and that it takes a lot of time to iron out difficulties with trade.

Johnson says even if there is a resolution, our country’s reputation has been damaged by the trade war going forward.

The reported phase one trade deal with China is awaiting President Trump’s signature.
