Farm Group Leaders Have Differences On Ballot Issue Results

South Dakota Farm group leaders have different takes on a pair of ballot measures that were defeated Tuesday by South Dakota voters. One called for a redistricting board while another that went down would have allowed for non partisan elections. South Dakota Farmers Union President Doug Sombke was disappointed at the results.

South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott VanderWal says his group’s members and leaders didn’t think the redistricting measure was a good one or very well thought out.

VanderWal says there were problems with the non partisan measure because it tends to hide what a candidate believes in.

Both VanderWal and Sombke congratulated Senator Thune and Representative Noem on their being re elected and look forward to working with them on farm policy.
