The Farm Service Agency has restored the previous definitions of terms like active personal management, significant contribution and restated phrasing in a rule regarding farm program subsidy eligibility and payment limitations. FSA Administrator Richard Fordyce says it’s basically a revision that makes the rules less restrictive. South Dakota Farmers Union President Doug Sombke doesn’t see the changes as anything necessarily significant or helpful for South Dakota’s farmers.
He’s heard no complaints about the present rule that would require any revision.
Sombke says no one in his organization has expressed any concerns about the need for any changes to the FSA requirements.
The FSA revision will be published right away in the Federal Register and goes into effect immediately.
