Farm Group Leader Pleased With Improvements To USMCA

A vote on the USMCA trade agreement could happen next week in the House. Minnesota Farmers Union President Gary Wertish says he’s pleased there were improvements made to the deal including the removal of some pharmaceutical costs that had been in the original pact.

He’s disappointed however that mandatory country of origin labeling is not in the final USMCA agreement.

Wertish says there’s a good chance the USMCA will now get approved and the changes made to it make it a much better pact than what was first proposed.

The House could vote on the USMCA next week however Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnel says it probably won’t be dealt with in the Senate until after Christmas.
