Congress is continuing to work on their next stimulus package to assist those hurt by the effects of the pandemic. The Senate’s GOP plan would include another $20 billion while there’s another $14 billion in previous aid not yet spent. Nebraska Farm Bureau Senior Economist Jay Rempe says it’s important that Congress approve those funds and get them out to farmers and ranchers as soon as possible.

He says while producers want and need those funds, there’s no state of panic among them yet.

Rempe says the two most important things that would help farmers and ranchers is enhanced trade as well as getting restaurants back up and going full speed.

So far only about $6 billion in pandemic relief payments have gone out to producers.
