Last Thursday 10,000 workers at 14 John Deere plants in a five state area went on strike. That was following a contract rejection by the United Auto Workers Union. What is the impact on the U.S. Ag economy.? Nebraska Farm Bureau Senior Economist Jay Rempe says the strike adds to harvest delay concerns and producers need to get repairs and part efficiently.

He expects with strike now going on, farm equipment costs will likely go up.

Rempe says the longer the walkout goes the more severe the economic impact.

Rempe says the biggest effect on the Ag economy prior to the John Deere Strike has been the drought.
