Farm Credit System in Good Shape Despite Economy

Northern Plains farmers are facing several economic challenges with low commodity prices, trade issues and flooding and blizzard impacts. Farm Credit Administration Chairman and CEO Dallas Tonsager says despite that, they can take heart in that the farm credit system is in good shape.

He says the best thing farmers and ranchers can do is to stay in contact and work with their lenders.

Tonsager says it’s especially difficult for those producers hit by the March flooding and he advises them to resolve any credit issues they have as soon as possible.

Tonsager says the farm credit system is in the best shape it’s ever been in, even going back to the 1980s.
