Through an NRCS grant, the South Dakota Farm Bureau is working to establish a framework for wetland mitigation banks. Farm Bureau Executive Director, Wayne Smith says this statewide system will create better functioning wetlands and a user friendly system for farmers.

Smith says once the framework is developed the goal is to have a uniform system for everyone to follow.

He says they are still working out privacy concerns.

The mitigation bank framework is expected to be in place by August 31.
