South Dakota’s county farm bureau groups have sent in their policy recommendation issues list for the full membership to consider at their annual state meeting in November. Farm Bureau Executive Director Wayne Smith says their top issue is funding for the state’s roads, bridges and infrastructure.
Smith says the question is will they be able to raise enough of the necessary funding by raising the rate. He says another major concern of county farm bureau members is EPA’s proposed Waters of the U.S.rule and other regulations pushed forward by the agency.
Other policy considerations include: private property rights, rail shipments and costs, oil pipelines, immigration and drones. Policy passed at the state annual meeting will be sent on for review at the American Farm Bureau’s annual meeting set for next year.
