Farm Bureau Wants EPA Rules Blocked

The House is likely to take up legislation soon that would block EPA’s proposed Waters of the U.S. rule. The agency wants the rule in place to clarify the Clean Water Act. The rule has been criticized by several groups and South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott Vanderwal says his organization supports blocking that regulation.
Vanderwal says there are problems with Waters of the U.S. as well as another regulation being pushed forward by EPA. He says the agency is bypassing Congress and exceeding its authority.
Vanderwal says while they’re hoping for good support in the House for stopping the rule, getting it through the Senate will be a tough battle and even having enough votes to overcome an expected Presidential veto.
The House is expected to take up the legislation sometime next week when they return to regular session.
